Summary of Changes from Previous Version

This is a new policy to meet security obligations under various government frameworks and legislation. This Policy establishes the framework for protective security at the University of Canberra (the University); ensures the safety of individuals, the protection of information and assets, and alignment with the Australian Government’s Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF); supports the University’s commitment to maintaining a secure environment for its academic, research, administrative, and community functions; and allows UC to:

- participate in initiatives such as the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP);

- meet the obligations in the Department of Education’s University Foreign Interference Taskforce (UFIT); and

- meet the obligations under legislation such as the Information Privacy Act 2014 (ACT), Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 (Cth), and Cyber Security Act 2024 (Cth).
